Showa Kinen ParkShowa Kinen Park, administrated by the Japanese government, was created in 1983 on the site of a former U.S. military base returned to Japan. The park's establishment was in commemoration of Emperor Hirohito's more than 50 years on the throne. The spacious 1.8 million-square-meter park has various facilities and playground equipment among its many zones: the Forest Zone, Plaza Zone, Water Zone, Exhibition Facility Zone and Green Culture Zone.

Visitors can enjoy diverse flowers and plants year-round as well as events such as fireworks in summer and illuminations in winter.
